Delta Step up into Global LED Streetlight Market

Aiming at the global LED streetlight market, Delta Electronics Inc. of Taiwan has set to strive for contract production orders this year with efforts of all its 27 overseas sales outlets scattering in mainland China, Japan and Europe.

In spite of the financial tsunami, the global LED streetlight market still poses unlimited business opportunities, said Delta chairman C.H Cheng without disclosing the company’s shipment volume and schedule. Early this year, the company unveiled 14 LED lighting products available for indoor and outdoor applications. And it will begin to ship 5.5-meter and 12-meter streetlights to Mainland China and Spain, the two most stressed market of Delta, some time this month at the earliest.

As China government has announced the program to install enormous number of LED streetlights in major cities, Taiwan`s institutional investors estimated the mainland LED-streetlight market to pose a perspective business opportunity of NT$600 billion (US$17.6 billion) a year. To win the presence in this gigantic market, the company has changed its rejective attitude to government contacts and begun competing for local governments’ LED streetlight bids.

Delta has invested in upstream, middle-stream and downstream LED segments to furnish itself with integrated manufacturing capability to enter the LED streetlight market smoothly. And according to industry watchers, the company is operating a huge number of outlets worldwide and has set up good relationships with the local governments.
