The integration of the Samsung SmartThings Hub with the OSRAM-branded Lightify lamps and luminaires enables users to take advantage of automation technology to give them a new level of control over the lighting in their home.
Through the ability to directly connect OSRAM smart lamps and luminaries to the Samsung SmartThings Hub, rules between lighting in the home and other devices connected to the hub can be easily set up at highest security standards.
For example, when the Samsung SMARTCAM HD PRO recognises movement, or when the FIBARO DOOR SENSOR identifies the door is opening, the Hub can be programmed to automatically turn on the OSRAM lights.
Verena Rathjen, Head of Smart Business at LEDVANCE, says, “Our research on 2,000 British consumers has shown that although half of adults surveyed feel lighting is a necessity, they also admit to giving little thought to the part it plays in their everyday lives. The reality however is that lighting plays an important role in providing a comfortable and wholesome environment.
“By combining LEDVANCE’s experience in lighting with Samsung’s intelligent automation technology, consumers benefit from a convenient, cost effective and reliable smart home offering”, she adds.
Brett Worthington, Vice President of Global Business Development at Samsung SmartThings, says, “The global smart home market is set to grow 15 per cent each year by 2022, and lighting is pivotal to that growth as it continues to be a top use case for the smart home. Our partnership with LEDVANCE is key as we aim to provide an affordable, reliable and easy to install smart lighting offering to everyone through our open platform.”
