Eaton Teams with Actor Ed Begley, Jr. to Highlight Energy-Saving in Buildings at International Builders Show 2015

Power management company Eaton will showcase its innovative and energy-savings solutions for the residential building and construction industry at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show®  (IBS) 2015, January 20 to 22, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada, booth C5016, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Actor and environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr. will be Eaton’s featured guest speaker at the company’s booth at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 21. Begley will discuss the design and construction of his new home, which is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification and become North America’s greenest, most sustainable house. Begley’s home will feature a number of Eaton’s residential lighting, wiring and other solutions, including arc fault circuit interrupters, Halo® LED downlights and electrical vehicle chargers. Visitors to the company’s booth will be able to view these products and talk with Eaton industry experts.

”As the residential housing market continues to rebound, there is increasing demand for products and solutions that deliver advanced performance and energy savings,” said Glenn Siegel, director, marketing and product management, Eaton’s Cooper Lighting Division. “Eaton remains at the forefront of meeting this demand, and the International Builders’ Show will once again give us the opportunity to demonstrate our leadership.”

Eaton is also the exclusive lighting provider for the NextGen Home TV’s Showcase Home located in the outdoor area (P18) of IBS. Eaton’s Halo LED downlights will be featured in the home, half of which will be displayed and open for tours. After the show, the IBS portion of the home will be transported to Phoenix, where it will be connected  to the other half, be open for tours and then be donated to an injured veteran in the greater Phoenix area.

The NextGen Welcome Home Showcase is part of a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Rebuilding Together’s Kickoff to Rebuild project, a Super Bowl sanctioned event. Eaton is inviting IBS attendees to tour the home and sign a “Welcome Home” banner that will greet the veteran and his family when they receive the keys to their new home.

The NextGen Home TV Showcase Home will include 30 of Eaton’s Halo LED downlights used throughout the home. The Halo LED downlights are ENERGY STAR® certified, which guarantees that the fixtures deliver effective lighting while also meeting stringent energy-efficient operating guidelines. Halo LED downlights are the first in the industry to qualify for an ENERGY STAR® certification.

Visitors to Eaton’s exhibition booth on the show floor can take a deeper dive into the development of LED lighting – exploring how it has evolved, why it has become the optimal solution for a variety of environments and the true cost savings generated by solutions such as Halo’s new innovative ALLSLOPE LED downlight system for slope ceiling home applications. Show attendees will also be able to see a number of residential and wiring device solutions in their natural environments, including:

  • Standby generators and automatic transfer switches thatprovide performance, cost saving benefits and make backup power easy, affordable and worry-free.
  • Type CH Plug-on Neutral loadcenters and circuit breakers that enable contractors to connect the breaker directly to the neutral bar, eliminating the need for wiring a pigtail and resulting in a time savings up to 25 percent per AFCI & GFCI installation.
  • Dual Purpose Arc Fault/Ground Fault (AF/GF) Circuit Interrupters developed  in response to the 2014 National Electrical Code that now requires AFCI protection in kitchens and laundry areas as well as the historical requirement of ground fault protection.
  •  Aspire RF wireless controls, a customizable, energy-saving solution. This radio frequency-based system includes one-touch controllers and a wide range of wiring devices, enabling homeowners and contractors to create an integrated home control network.
  • Anyplace RF battery-operated switches, enabling homeowners and contractors to install a switch anywhere in the home without installing additional wiring.
  • AFCI receptacles designed to recognize an arc fault and quickly trip to stop the flow of electricity to prevent the electrical system from being an ignition source of a fire.

“Our AFCI receptacle provides end users with another code-compliant tool to help protect against arc faults that could potentially ignite surrounding material, resulting in an electrical fire in a home,” said John Krause, senior manager, Eaton’s Wiring Devices Division. “At the same time, our wide range of wireless solutions gives discerning homeowners the ability to truly customize their living space and help make their lives much simpler.”
