Two USAI Lighting Products Cited in 2014 IES Progress Report

Two USAI® Lighting designs have been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society as unique and significant technological advancements to the art and science of lighting and were accepted into the 2014 IES Progress Report.

BeveLED® mini with Warm Glow Dimming® and BeveLED Flat were named in this year’s Report, competing with hundreds ofsubmissions for the respected and prestigious industry honor. The chosen products were rigorously judged on criteria that includes: visual performance, optical performance, efficiency/energy, size, life, how they expand lighting impact, contribution to lighting market growth and the products being first to market.

Small yet powerful, BeveLED mini with Warm Glow Dimming has the best performance-to-size ratio for an LED product that warms as it dims, delivering more than 825 lumens at 18 Watts (47 lm/W) from a mere 1.5" optical aperture. The BeveLED mini family of downlight, adjustable and wall wash fixtures is capable of delivering a perfect 10° beam equal to any MR-16 or metal halide source, with medium (25°-35°) and wide (50°) beams for more uniform ambient light. The BeveLED mini with USAI’s patented Warm Glow Dimming technology transitions from warm to warmer (2700K or 3000K down to 2200K), mimicking to perfection an incandescent lamp.  Fixture-tofixture color consistency is assured, and each product is thoroughly tested for dimming compatibility with major architectural control systems. As sustainable as it is powerful, the BeveLED mini meets strict LEED® certification criteria, Title 24 requirements and other energy codes.

BeveLED Flat is the shallowest housing in the downlighting market, now available with USAI’s BeveLED 2.0 downlight. It measures less than 4" tall from the finished ceiling plane to the top of the housing and sports a mere 2-3/4" housing height in the trim version and a 3-3/8” tall housing height in the trimless, allowing architects and contractors to take recessed lighting anywhere. The small and compact BeveLED Flat housing facilitates and streamlines coordination with ductwork, insulation, HVAC, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, and its USAI-patented All-Ways Square® feature makes alignment of the square aperture easy for the installer. With unparalleled power and energy efficiency, BeveLED 2.0 with BeveLED Flat housing provides up to 2350 delivered lumens and up to 84 lm/W. It is also available with over 9 dimming driver options.

“USAI Lighting is excited that these two groundbreaking lighting solutions have been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society,” said Bonnie Littman, President and CEO of USAI Lighting. “USAI Lighting continues to push the envelope in the design and engineering of intelligent LED lighting, bringing personalized lighting to everyday life.”

This year’s IES Progress Report will be presented on November 3, at the IES Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and at local IES Section meetings throughout the coming year. This was the fourth year that USAI products have been included in the IES Progress Report.
