LIA Council of Management for 2016 Elaborates on Strategy and Vision

Peter Scott from Fern-Howard Lighting took up his tenure as President of the LIA Council of Management at the LIA’s Annual Luncheon in May.During the day, Dave Ribbons of Lutron EA Ltd and Mike Collett of WILA Lighting Limited, took up their position as Vice Presidents.

The LIA Council is made up of twenty three elected professionals from various aspects of the UK Lighting Industry. Representing three ‘constituencies’ (Lamps, Luminaires and Components) to ensure this governing body retains a balance representing the membership and all LIA Members are invited and encouraged to get involved.

The foundations of the Council is to ensure the LIA’s continued prosperity by collectively directing its affairs, while meeting the appropriate interests of its Members and relevant stakeholders.

The Council focuses on four key areas:

1.     establishing vision, mission and values 

2.     setting strategy and structure

3.     delegating to management

4.     exercising accountability to shareholders and being responsible to relevant stakeholders

Annually, a selection of Council Members automatically retire thus providing an opportunity for other LIA Members to stand for election. The following were elected this year to join the Council.

·         Peter Denny from Thorn/ZG, representing Luminaires

·         Phil Cross from Philips, representing Lamps

·         Terry Dean from DW Windsor, representing Luminaires
