LpS 2015 to Present LED Lighting Innovations

Consolidated Knowledge to Go

With a focus on LED lighting trends and technologies, the LpS 2015 offers consolidated lighting knowledge provided by pioneers and lighting professionals from all over the globe. Rogier van der Heide, Chief Design & Marketing Officer at Zumtobel Group and Ambassador of the UNESCO for the International Year of Light, will open the event with his keynote on trends in smart lighting, Internet of Things and Human Centric Lighting. Mr. van der Heide is a well-known designer and previously worked for Philips Lighting.

The inventor of semantic lighting, Prof. Zary Segall, Endowed Chair Professor at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Sweden, will focus on semantic lighting, including smart and connected lighting in his keynote.

Prof. Georges Zissis will talk about the quality of lamps and associated health issues. He is currently working at the Toulouse 3 University in France, primarily doing research in the fields of Light Sources. He won the first award of the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) for his work on normalization for urban lighting systems.

Dr. Daniel Doxsee has been invited to talk about trends and technologies in LED lighting for visual merchandising. Daniel Doxsee has a PhD in chemistry and holds the position of Deputy Managing Director at Nichia, the world’s leading LED manufacturer.

SSL expert Alexander Wilm from Osram Opto Semiconductor will give a report on a reality lifetime check of LED lighting systems. Mr. Wilm holds a diploma in Mechatronic Engineering and joined Osram Opto Semiconductors in 2004.

Dr. Josep Carreras, leader of the lighting group IREC and founder of Ledmotive Technologies, will share his expert knowledge on spectrally tunable SSL Solutions. He has a PhD in physics, has authored more than 40 articles and participated in over 15 international projects.

Detailed information on all experts and short abstracts for the 60 presentations and 7 workshops are available at www.LpS2015.com/program.

Exhibition and Design Award

Among the hundred exhibitors at the LpS 2015 are seven of the world’s top LED manufacturers including the market leader, Nichia. Soraa from the USA, founded by the Nobel Prize winner Shuji Nakamura, will exhibit their GaN-on-GaN technology based LEDs. Furthermore, ten exhibitors will be using the LpS to launch their brand-new products. One of the exhibition highlights is the new BMW i8 with laser headlights. Interested visitors are encouraged to attend the Automotive Workshop on the third day of the event. In addition to the technical exhibition and event program, the LpS is offering a “Design meets Technology” program for architects, lighting designers and planners. Students will showcase their lighting design prototypes, which are the result of a 4-month long design contest. The best designs will be awarded in Bregenz on the opening day of the event. The exhibitor list and the complete design meets technology program can be found at: www.LpS2015.com

"The major goal of the LpS event is to analyze the trends and technologies that are important for the design of future solid-state lighting solutions. This year we're concentrating on the building blocks for smart lighting designs, starting at the light source and moving up the value chain to the system architecture,” said Siegfried Luger, Director of the LpS 2015. He went on to invite people to be a part of this essential process for forecasting the technological lighting future together with renowned international experts, research and industry partners and students.
