The Lighting Industry Association Joins All Party Parliamentary Group on Smart Cities

The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) has joined the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Smart Cities, Chaired by Rt. Hon. Mark Prisk MP.

This APPG brings together Parliamentarians with the British academics, NGOs, businesses and local governments that are leading the global smart cities revolution. Together they are raising awareness of the many issues associated with Smart Cities, and providing a platform for stakeholders from different sectors to collaborate and share best practices.

Exploring and debating the many issues relating to smart cities, The APPG aims to identify the main barriers to faster development of smart cities in the UK, and ensure the dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt from the pioneering global municipalities.

“As lighting becomes an integral part of the smart environment, our industry no longer stands alone in providing a service but are part of a much bigger and co-ordinated system. Membership of the Smart Cities APPG is one way The LIA can work more closely with stakeholders in this revolution to help LIA members take advantage of the business opportunities.” Steve Davies, LIA, CEO.
