ALKILU to Market Consumer OLED Lights with Aid from LG Chem

ALKILU Enterprises announced that its line of affordable OLED products is now available for pre-order on the company's website. The announcement coincides with the 25th Annual Lightfair International in Las Vegas, Nevada – the site of ALKILU's debut in January 2014 as part of the Consumer Electronics Show.

"For the past six months, our entire focus has been on getting these unique OLED products into the hands of consumers, and today, we're one step closer to making that a reality," said ALKILU CEO Alex Khayat. "Lightfair International has showcased some of the world's most innovative and anticipated lighting products, and we're incredibly honored to have our products mentioned among them."

With a wide range of redesigned OLED products – including all-terrain lights, night lights, reading lights and others – ALKILU is one of the first companies to market OLED technology to consumers at an affordable price point.

With this announcement, LG Chem – who has been a leading innovator of OLED technology – has announced that it will co-market the Trio OLED Light with Alkilu. The Trio, a versatile light that can be used for both indoor and outdoor use, features OLED panels manufactured by LG Chem.

Having collaborated with designers and manufacturers from around the globe, Khayat says the company is prepared to ship large quantities of products during Q3 2014. As part of the pre-order process, customers will now be able to order a number of accessories, including additional batteries and USB cables. Khayat believes the low prices of the new product line will entice new consumers to reconsider the way they view OLED technology.

"Consumers are certainly interested in OLED technology, as seen with smartphones and televisions, but to date, they have been prohibitively expensive to manufacture, market and sell," said Khayat. "We're obviously still in the early stages, but once people see the unique advantages and appearance of OLED technology, there will be no turning back."

OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes) generate and emit light by passing electricity through thin organic layers. They are both eco-friendly (mercury-free, with no UV emissions) and energy-efficient, with almost no heat generation. Khayat believes these qualities will make them a great fit with eco-conscious consumers and early adopters of new technology.
