Tridonic Introduces Control Software and EnOcean to Showcases Bluetooth Sensors for Lighting Control

Monitoring LED drivers and controlling lighting function have become critical with increasing applications of LED products. Lighting companies and system producers develop new solutions for meeting the needs of various operations. Tridonic launched a set of various software tools for optimizing production errors and EnOcean will display its wireless sensor and control system for LED lighting.

Tridonic released companionSUITE, a dynamic set of various software tools for long-term process optimization. The software gathers information of LED drivers and provides luminaire manufacturers details about the function of relevant drivers including power functions to application settings. companionSUITE consists of three dynamic software tools: deviceGENERATOR, deviceCONFIGURATOR and deviceANALYSER. These tools help luminaire manufacturers to manage the driver setting easily and simplify the configuration of the luminaires, optimizing work processes and reducing errors.

"companionSUITE makes it easier for our customers to handle LED drivers", explains Klaus Mohr, Product Manager for Controls & Connectivity at Tridonic. "The software is extremely user friendly. It's an easy and effortless way to create driver settings and upload them to the driver. It's also a convenient way to export data from returned products."

EnOcean, a Germany-based wireless technology developer, will be launching a solar-powered occupancy sensor for Bluetooth® lighting control systems. It will add to the company’s battery-free switches portfolio, offering a control solution for applications of Internet of Things (IoT).

The new self-powered Easyfit sensor (EMDCB) uses a passive infrared (PIR) sensor to detect motion and integrates tiny solar cells to harvest ambient light. These solar cells generate the energy for the sensor’s operation making it self-powered and maintenance-free. An energy storage element stores the harvested energy bridging a period of time when no light is available to ensure an uninterrupted operation. Besides occupancy detection, the new Bluetooth® sensor integrates a light sensor that allows light level control based on the actual light intensity. Like the battery-free Easyfit switches, the sensor also has a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface to be easily integrated and commissioned for lighting control systems via a NFC reader, a smartphone or a tablet.

In a future step, EnOcean will further expand its Easyfit portfolio of self-powered Bluetooth® sensors to deliver additional building data such as temperature and humidity for more intelligent control abilities. EnOcean will be showing prototypes of this portfolio expansion at CES as well.
