The Red Dot jury, consisting of design specialists from all over the world, evaluated and tested products over the course of several days. They have awarded Flynn, an LED pendant designed and manufactured by Eureka Lighting a distinction “Red Dot”. The panel of experts awards the internationally recognised seal of quality only to products that win them over with their high design quality.

The Flynn pendant light disguises its original and clever design details within a familiar, yet new form. Featuring a slightly retro aluminum shade, the bold lines are reminiscent of an industrial lamp, but on the inside, there is a generously curved and highly diffused white reflector. Centered on this delicate parabolic form, is a disc that floats in space and contains a powerful LED source. The highly efficacious, custom designed light engines provide ample illumination that is perfectly diffused to deliver pleasant and soft, indirect lighting.

The crisp and clean Flynn is offered in Ø555mm (Ø22”) or Ø 890mm (Ø35”) with the small having nearly 1000 delivered lumens and the large at nearly 2000 delivered lumens. Flynn has an integrated driver that is either phase or 1-10V dimming and is offered with either a fine textured anthracite or matte white finish.

“The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognized that good design and economic success go hand in hand,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award. “The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy.”

The winners will be celebrated at the Red Dot Gala on 9 July 2018. The Red Dot: Best of the Best laureates will receive their well-deserved trophies on stage at Essen’s opera house, the Aalto-Theater, during the award ceremony. At the subsequent Designers’ Night in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, the Red Dot laureates receive their certificates and can all celebrate their success together in the midst of the award-winning products, as the after show party is simultaneously the exhibition launch: For a four-week period, the special exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018” will feature the award-winning innovations as part of the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design.
