New Sharp LEDs Deliver the Deep Red Dazzle with Leading R9 Performance Shown at LIGHTFAIR 2010

Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas (SMA) is showing two new LED product families at LIGHTFAIR International 2010, on May 12 - 14: Double Dome and Mini Zenigata.

Next-generation lighting demands high luminous efficiencies, accurate color rendering, long operating life, and design flexibility. Sharp’s LED product suites offer a range of features, sizes, and outputs to match the needs of demanding lighting applications.

Sharp’s LEDs combine a blue LED die with a proprietary mixture of green and red phosphors yielding industry leading CRI and R9 performance that faithfully reproduces colors. Sharp’s breakthrough ceramic substrate achieves high reliability and heat dissipation.

New Sharp LED Product Family: Double Dome

Lighting designers can take advantage of the Double Dome’s delivery of up to 54 lm in a small 2.8mm x 2.8mm package. These LEDs are among the industry’s best .5W and .8W R9 performers, with CRI performance exceeding most fluorescent solutions, while also maintaining competitive efficacy and cost-per-lumen performance.

Double Dome LEDs  are perfect for:
•               Indoor and outdoor lighting
•               Architectural illumination
•               Channel letter solutions

New Sharp LED Product Family: Mini Zenigata

Sharp's new Mini Zenigata LEDs deliver the deep red dazzle, boasting an industry-leading R9 performance. They give a new meaning to “compact,” with approximately half (56%) the surface area of previous models and a significant reduction in the emissive area when compared to Sharp’s Zenigata offering. Mini Zenigata modules offer chromaticity performance tighter than that defined by existing ANSI CCT standards (under 3 Macadam ellipse). Plus, design is a snap with these modules, which attach directly to a heat sink and “drop-in” easily into lighting fixtures and equipment due to their small footprint.

A Mini Zenigata module fitted into an MR-16 fixture (multi-faceted reflector, silver background) creates a high-intensity light perfect for showcases, rail lights, task lights, and similar applications. Choose from 3.6-watt or 6.7-watt modules. Other applications include:

•               Indoor and outdoor lighting
•               Architectural illumination
•               Reading lamps
•               Spotlights
•               Sign and symbol luminaires
