NASA backed Smart LED Lamp Can Help You Sleep Better

Here comes a research-backed healthy smart LED lamp, the Ario lamp. The company founded by a group of former Microsoft employees and many other engineers launched its campaign on Kickstarter, setting out to raise US $50,000. Unsurprisingly, with its design backed by research of NASA and Harvard Medical School, the campaign has successfully reached its goal within 24 hours.

Ario lets user customize desired lighting schedule form the designated app.
The direction, color and intensity of the light from Ario change with time.

Ario may look very much like an everyday fluorescent or incandescent lamp, it’s much more eco- friendly and intelligent than a usual luminaire. The directional LED lighting system adopted allows the lamp to alter light direction and color during different times of the day. Users can also create the desired lighting effect.

A look of the lighting pattern throughout the day.

Ario’s design is supported by decade-long scientific research from Harvard Medical School, NASA and the NIH.

According to researchers, light direction, color and intensity together influence the release of hormones. These hormones play crucial role to human’s physiology, sleep, metabolism and even our mood.

Therefore, artificial light can mess up our hormones and pose health problems to our body.

Unlike other artificial lights, Ario generates light that mimics the pattern of sun by changing direction, color and intensity of its light.

Ario emits blue- rich white light during day time and downward yellow, warm light in the evening.

Ario the light automatically detects the environment it is in and make changes of its lighting pattern base on time of the day, season, and local weather. Other than that, it learns about user’s daily routine and alter its lighting pattern accordingly.

With its built- in Cloud computing system and Wi- Fi connection, users can control Ario from anywhere around the world, while adding Ario to the existing smart home platform.

This smart light can even be your personal jet lag recovery remedy.

Ario offers 2,400 lumens with color temperature ranges from blue- rich white 6,500K to amber white 1,800K light.

The directional lighting system is created by two light engines, a designated LED controller and Particle P1 WiFi module. The diffusers and shade are thoughtfully engineered to eliminate glare.

The Kickster campaign will run for 45 days and the first package will be shipped in September 2016.
