InfoComm 2017 SONY Steals the Limelight Once Again

InfoComm Orlando 2017 was held at Orange County Convention from June 14-16, 2017. An estimated number of 148 LED display companies participated in the exhibition.

SONY Micro LED Display’s Color Calibration

SONY showcased its CLEDIS display alongside an OLED display to highlight CLEDIS display’s color calibration. With SONY’s Crystal LED Color Management Solution, CLEDIS display’s color gamut is on par with OLED, making SONY’s Micro LED stand out in its color display when OLED, LCD, and CLEDIS are used under the same environment.

International Companies with Their Finer Display Solutions

Fine pitch display makers demonstrated their new products after pitch refinement. Per pixel pitch size has been refined narrower from 1.5-2mm to 1.2-1.5mm, and some companies, such as Leyard, Silicon Core, and Unilumin, even launched 0.9mm pixel-pitch LED screens. All innovations are anticipated to drive more international display makers towards finer display techniques and 4K/8K resolution.

At InfoComm 2017, Leyard use the brand of Planar exhibited ultra-fine pitch 0.9mm TWA series as their key vision.

Philips visualized its primary goal to supplant 55” and 65” LCD screens with its display.

Apart from fine-pitch displays, creative LED displays also received a lot of attention. Besides OPTO Tech, LG also debuted its transparent LED display. Placed right in the middle of the booth, the transparent display when closely looked showed its glass structure with white LED packages. In addition, the company showcased its P1.0 fine pitch display.

OPTO Tech exhibited its own transparent LED display as well.

Total Driver IC Solution for Fine Pitch Display

The demand for fine pitch LED display also propels driver IC manufacturers to come up with fine pitch display solutions, rental services, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems (for control rooms and markets). Macroblock, a noted LED driver IC supplier, launched Hawkeye solutions to not only enhance the display quality with a new-gen dimming module that saves grayscale and white balance; but reduce power consumption for the UPS with the Intelligent Power Saving function. Considering its advanced products, the flexible dimming modules for the rental market and the Intelligent Power Saving function for the UPS systems in control rooms and retail markets, Macroblock helps pave a way to smarter, more effective display technology.

This year, Macroblock’s showcasing themed around ‘Simple Interface, Superior Image, Smart Power Saving’. Compared with products powered by PWM driver IC, fine pitch displays that adopt Macroblock’s MBI5353 featuring 48 regulated current ports perform better grayscale and color accuracy. Meanwhile, MBI5353 saves up space that requires light panels, which makes it fairly suited for ever finer pitch displays. MBI5353’s two major properties-smart control and dimming- also embodies the concept of smart lighting.
