Light+Building 2012 Report II: Philips Lighting

Philips Lighting is the current leader of the global lighting industry, a forerunner in traditional lighting, LED lighting, special lighting and lighting fixture areas. The company exhibited at Forum 0. From its booth it was very easy to tell how much marketing budget Philips invested in it.

Philips’ sector was divided into assorted booths, including interior lighting, office lighting, outdoors lighting, industrial lighting, food lighting and LED light bulb. LEDinside conducted an interview with Philips Lumileds regarding its LED light source, LED component and OLED lighting applications.

Outdoors Lighting Management Solutions

As for outdoors lighting, Philips released CityTouch, which provides intelligent lighting management solutions for monitoring the street lights in the city. Through CityTouch, the user can not only remote control every street lamp’s brightness and light color, but also perform detailed control catering to different times and traffic of the day.


According to the interview by LEDinside, the communication is via Philips’ self-developed wireless communication technology, the signal can reach the street lights within 50-100 meters. CityTouch has made its way into regions such as Africa and Eastern Europe.

 

New Line of LED Light Bulb

In regard to LED light bulb, Philips showcased 75W equivalent Master LED bulb, which still used remote phosphor technology like the 40W and 60W equivalent Mast LED bulb to reach the effect of wide beam.

Philips’ 8W Master LED bulb, which is set to hit the market in May, 2012, can replace 40W incandescent light bulb.

 

Office Lighting’s focus on Smart Control and Energy Saving

Due to Light+Building 2012’s emphasis on smart and energy-saving building, Philips’ office lighting solutions also focused on smart control system. Moreover, the company cooperated with many office furniture makers and brought a number of new design ideas to the table. For example, LEDinside saw Philips and Somfy’s Light Balancing Solution as a combination of lighting art and energy-saving technology.

 

OLED Lighting

Philips exhibited its latest development on the OLED front - Lumiblade OLED GL350, whose size is 155 cm2 and brightness 115lm.

The company adopted different amounts of OLED panels to create different OLED lighting applications.
