LED EXPO Thailand 2019: Lighting Combines Building Management and Fire Security to Push Energy Conservation

LED lighting development in the emerging markets has always caught the attention of worldwide suppliers. In order to meet the demands of regional markets and to initiate cross-field applications, the 7th LED Expo Thailand + Light ASEAN made its grand opening on June 27th at the IMPACT Exhibition Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The exhibition jointed together the Building Maintenance and Asset Management (BMAM) Expo Asia and the K-Fire & Safety Expo, the latter revolving around disaster prevention and protection. The exhibition gathered over 350 international suppliers as well as Thai suppliers, and is expected to attract at least 15,000 visitors across the globe over the entire three days of the event.

The exhibition of lighting, building management and fire safety were combined for the first time, indicating that the technological integration of these three areas is necessary for smart city infrastructure as well as the key to optimize energy utility efficiency. The event also created a platform for experts from these three areas to leverage their expertise efforts and push energy conservation in the ASEAN towards a smarter future.

Sarawut Kaewtathip, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, joined the opening ceremony and explained that Thailand has been actively planning policies for energy management and initiated a 5-year energy conservation project since 2017. Through the promotion of energy saving products such as LED lighting and smart management, Thailand aims to reduce energy consumption countrywide. The combination of LED lighting, building management and fire safety in this year’s exhibition presented both a platform and a role model for technological integration. It also offered a variety of solutions, allowing public and private sectors in Thailand and other countries of the ASEAN to switch to energy conservation according to their needs.

Attending businesses showcased many types of solar-powered smart streetlights and other indoor and outdoor luminaires. Thai companies DLight and ICE LED released a multitude of sports court lighting and solar-powered streetlights. The international brand LEDVANCE also set up shop in eye-catching fashion, seeking to expand the number of distributers in Southeast Asia.

The Korean manufacturer Seoul Semiconductor is currently increasing the market share of its LED chips since having penetrated the Thai market last year. The company has been promoting its SunLike product series, which produces a sun-mimicking spectrum. Taiwan manufacturer ShinyU collaborated with Japanese company MANICA to produce various kinds of anti-explosive lights, while LED driver supplier MEAN WELL promoted its new XLG product series.
