LED Light Sources

LED manufacturers, such as Everlight and DOMINANT Opto., launched various automotive LED lighting products, most of which are currently on display at the show. They not only showcased their white headlights that the public are familiar with, but also explained that in the future there would be a potential growth in demand for interior car lighting, which LED suppliers regarded as a great opportunity to open up a new market space.

DOMINANT Opto displayed its LED headlights as well as its Smart RBG LED, an interior car lighting applicaiton. We were told by DOMINANT Opto that it co-developed Smart RGB LED with several outstanding partners. (LEDinside)

ASAHI RUBBER, a Japanese company, integrated Nichia's blue LEDs with its films to create different RBG LED light sources that project colors with perfect saturation for in-car ambient lighting. (LEDinside)

Composite Materials for Lightweight Vehicles

More and more companies are offering various composite materials to help automobile manufacturers to lighten their cars. For instance, Kaneka Corporation launched high thermal conductive resins combined with metallic materials for its LED headlight module. The resins can help decrease the weight of vehicles and bring down the cost. So far, the resins have been incorporated into headlights of many models of Toyota, such as PRUIS, ALPHARD, and SIENTA.

Traditional lighting manufacturer IWASAKI displayed its lighting products with high CRI that are used during car painting to check the saturation of the automotive paint. IWASAKI used purple LED with phosphor, specifically fluorescence, to creat a light source with CRI Ra 95. (LEDinside)

Optical Accessories for Vehicles

Optical lens manufacturers are thinking about new ways to stand out from the fierce competition in LED lighting market. LedLink, a Taiwanese manufacturer with extraordinary and long-standing techniques of producing optical lenses, showcased its automotive lenses and successfully became a provider of optical lenses for headlights in the European and Japanese markets.
