For consumer rights and LED bulb product guarantee, Taiwan promotes “LED Bulb easy to read labeling label”

Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI),Taiwan Optoelectronic Semiconductor Industry Association (TOSIA) , and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association (TLFEA), on March 26th at Taiwan’s Lighting Technology Exhibition announced that Taiwan domestic market will be the first to promote “LED easy to read labeling” label. With easy to read design and numbers, the four most important targets for the LED bulb products are easily shown, which include color temperature, luminous flux, color rendering index, and luminous efficiency, supplying consumers with clear and simple reference material when buying LED bulbs.  This is for LED bulb product guarantee, and also to ensure consumer rights.  Among these, LED bulb product and lighting leading manufacturers Delta Electronics, Everlight, China Electric and other company supported outside packaging usage of these labels.

“LED bulb easy to read labeling label”, with easy to read design and numbers, clearly shows the four most important targets for the LED bulb products, which include color temperature, luminous flux, color rendering index, and luminous efficiency, supplying consumers with clear and simple reference material when buying LED bulbs.

“LED bulb easy to read labeling label”, with TOSIA accepting the application, predicts that after the middle of March this year, consumers will be able to purchase LED lighting products with attached easy to read labels. Also, these label currently have already obtained permission to become part of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs promotion of Taiwan manufactured products (MIT) smile label for LED bulb product label benchmark review. After LED bulb products obtain MIT smile label certification, then LED bulb easy to read labels will be places on all products, allowing consumers to have extra reference when purchasing the products.

Epistar chairman Li Bingjie recommends the business word to adopt the LED bulb easy to read labels.

LEDinside’s viewpoint:

The LED bulb easy to read label label is following the example of the U.S. Department of Energy to promote Energy Star, and LED lighting exhibits indicate that the business world standard “LED Lighting Fact” is very similar. However, Taiwan’s LED bulb easy to read labeling stresses color temperature, and luminous efficacy ( lumen, energy saving index the higher the better). Aside from the life expectancy comparison dispute, and the cost of electricity that can be saved in a year (due to American having legislative differences between states for electricity prices, all labels will be similar), power (this might cause confusion for consumers), this information will not be included in the easy to read labels.

Also, illumination angle is not mandatory on the label label due to companies doing the labeling themselves. This includes 270 degree, 330 degree and more different illumination angle products application field also being different.

On the whole, this label for the Taiwan Market has positive benefits. Foreign brands can also apply for the label, which is helpful for market sales. This is especially true by making the efficiency change to lumens per watt. The increase in numeral value represents a better usefulness, allowing consumers an even easier time choosing goods.

Taiwan market consumers will also be able to better know how to purchase LED bulbs.

As for to combine with MIT label, it is required that more than 60% of the components used in the Taiwan local production can be marked.
