Guangdong Province to Complete LED Lightings Transition in Public Places Within 3 Years

The government of Guangdong Province has held a meeting to discuss on LED lighting application in public lighting area on May 28.

Based on the project of promoting LED lighting in Guangdong which was announced on May 23, the government stressed that LED lighting should be installed in roadways, public places, government agencies, state-owned enterprises and public institutions, lighting projects fund by government capital as well as the new district to build in Nansha, Qinhai and Hengqin since the project takes effect. In addition, other existing lighting products which are not LEDs should be replaced by the end of 2014.

According to the plan, the Pearl River Delta schedules to complete LED public lighting popularization by the end of 2013, and other areas in Guangdong intend to complete it by the end of 2014. It’s expected to save over 50% of energy in lighting ,and drive the output of LED industry in Guangdong to 500 billion yuan by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan.
