Dreame Roboticmower A1: knows exactly where to mow the lawn thanks to sensors

News Source:

The new Dreame Roboticmower A1 navigates on the lawn like a robot hoover in the home. It uses lidar to scan its surroundings - and can also avoid unexpected obstacles.

Good robotic lawn mowers today need a perimeter wire. This means you have to mark out your lawn so that the robot knows where it can and cannot cut grass. This is tedious and time-consuming.

Robots with navigation via camera, GPS and sensors have problems from time to time in tests, for example in the latest robot mower test by "Stiftung Warentest", where both models performed worse than the cheaper competition with perimeter wire.

The new Dreame Roboticmower A1 does not yet feature in the test - as it will be available in the next few days at a price of around 1900 francs or 2000 euros. The manufacturer, known for robot hoovers, promises precise and problem-free lawn care even without a perimeter wire or special base station to amplify the GPS signal.

The robot mower is controlled via an app, where the cutting height can be set, among other things. Thanks to special sensors, the A1 recognises obstacles and can avoid them at any time - even if there is something on the lawn that wasn't there before.

Dreame takes over the technology of vacuum robots
The Roboticmower doesn't just drive aimlessly across the lawn, but plans U-shaped paths to mow the grass evenly and precisely. And it does this on an area of up to 2,000 square metres and at a cutting height of three to seven centimetres.

With several battery charges, it can mow up to 1000 square metres in 24 hours. It is able to overcome slopes of up to 45 per cent or 24 degrees.

The Roboticmower is designed to cut the grass regularly and returns automatically to the charging station.

In order to achieve precise navigation, the manufacturer uses the same technology as in the robotic vacuum cleaners. The robotic lawnmower first scans the entire garden with the lidar sensors and creates a map. You can then edit this map, including defining connecting paths between different lawn areas. The A1 should then be able to navigate with an accuracy of one centimetre.

Thanks to the waterproof housing, you can simply rinse the top and bottom of the robot with the garden hose for cleaning. If it rains, the robot automatically returns to the base station and waits there until it stops. So all I need is a big house with a lot of lawn so that I can test the mower soon.
