Taiwan to Lights up LED Dragon to Celebrate Lantern Festival

Taiwan is ready to light up a LED dragon at Lugang Sports Park to celebrate the annual Lantern Festival (also known as “Yuanxiao”).


The main dragon lantern, which will be ceremonially lit at 7 p.m. today, towers over the town at 21 meters high, appearing as though floating on moving clouds. Using LED lighting, which not only increases the brightness threefold but also reduces the energy used to one-tenth of that used for the theme lanterns in previous festivals, the design provides visitors with a taste of Taiwan's artistic and technological advancements.
