Hannstar Acquires HannsTouch Plants and Equipment with NTD 2.7 Billion to Deploy Mini/Micro LED

In a press conference held on November 5th at the TWSE, Hannstar announced that it will pay NTD 2.77 billion to acquire the buildings and factory facilities of HannsTouch located at 1-3F., No. 7, Beiyuan 1st Rd., Shanhua Dist., Tainan City, in order to develop Mini/Micro LED panels for future development and operation.

HannsTouch spokesperson Huang Boqiang said at the meeting that the transaction amounted to NTD 2.77 billion. The transaction covers a building area of 28,086.64 pings and there is a gain of NTD 210 million from the disposal. The buildings and factory facilities sold to Hannstar are idle assets, and the sale will have no impact on the future revenue and shareholders’ equity of HannsTouch.

Hannstar spokesperson Chien Hongyi pointed out that the acquisition of HannsTouch’s idle plants in Tainan Science Park is mainly for the purpose of future operation and the development of Mini/Micro LED panels. After the deal is completed, Hannstar expects to enter into the market for products featuring small- and medium-sized Mini LED panels such as wearable devices, pads, NBs and automotive equipment. It is also looking to tackle the Micro LED market to enhance the competitiveness of its existing panel products.
