ANSI Publishes New Standard for Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment—Plasma Lighting

ANSI Reaffirms ANSI C78.42 High-Pressure Sodium Lamps Standard

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced that ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C78 reaffirmed ANSI C78.42 High-Pressure Sodium Lamps. This standard sets forth the physical and electrical requirements for HPS lamps, to ensure performance and interchangeability. The data given also provides the basis for the electrical requirements for ballasts and ignitors, as well as the lamp-related requirements for luminaires.

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced that ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C78 published ANSI C78.374-2015 Light-Emitting Diode Package Specification Sheet for General Illumination Applications. The purpose of this new standard is to specify the standardized white light-emitting diode (LED) package specification sheet, or data reporting format, as the means of communication between LED package producers and users in general illumination applications. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced that ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C12 revised ANSI C12.1-2014 Code for Electricity Metering. This standard establishes acceptable performance criteria for new types of alternating current (ac) watthour meters, demand meters, demand registers, pulse devices, and auxiliary devices. It describes acceptable in-service performance levels for meters and devices used in revenue metering.

NEMA Launches New ANSI-accredited Lighting Systems Committee
