The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) announce that U.S. participants in the Cree LED City® program will join forces with the DOE Municipal Solid-State Street Lighting Consortium (Consortium). The Consortium will provide ongoing national organizational structure and guidance to LED City members and new members in the process of evaluating solid-state street lighting technologies meant for public streets and other public areas.

Cree, Inc. announces that Fairview, Texas, has joined the LED City® initiative, an international program that promotes the deployment of energy-efficient LED lighting. The newly constructed, four-lane Fairview Parkway, designed specifically to be lit with LEDs, features 82 LED street lights from EvoLucia, a division of Sunovia Energy Technologies, Inc.

Recently, Cree, Inc., a market leader in LED lighting, and the City of Welland, Ontario, Canada, announced that Welland has joined the LED City initiative, an international program that promotes the deployment of energy-efficient LED lighting. The city has converted many of its lighting applications to LEDs, including streetlights and traffic signals, and has additional projects underway. Welland has also amended its municipal standards to facilitate LED lighting for all future streetlight installations.

It’s reported that the shimmer wall adorns the McDowell Street side of the new convention center in downtown Raleigh. Next month, the shimmer wall art installation measures 211 ft long by 44 ft high and will adorn one exterior wall of the city's new convention center.

Recently, Municipality announced that Anchorage participated in the LED City program and appropriated $2.2 Million for First Phase Installation of LED Roadway Lights. Cree, Inc, a market leader in LED lighting said this is to promote the deployment of energy-efficient LED lighting.
