Epistar Anticipates A Promising 3Q17

Top Taiwanese LED manufacturer Epistar’s revenue made a turnaround in 2Q17. After the improvement of its product assortment, the capacity of EPISTAR’s blue light LED in Q3 is full. The utilization rate of four-element LED stays above 80%. With the support of AlInGaP LED’s demand in markets such as automotive lighting and security control, the capacity of Epistar will be almost fully-utilized until Q4. The price of its blue LED is likely to remain stable. Epistar doesn’t appear to be involved in the price war in China considering Chinese manufacturers tend to expand capacity to manufacture their own blue LEDs.

Cree Reports Financial Results for the Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2017

Cree, Inc. yesterday announced revenue of $359 million for its fourth quarter of fiscal 2017, ended June 25, 2017. This represents an 8% decrease compared to revenue of $388 million reported for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2016, and a 5% increase compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2017. GAAP net loss for the fourth quarter was $6 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, compared to GAAP net loss of $11 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2016. On a non-GAAP basis, net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2017 was $4 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, compared to non-GAAP net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2016 of $19 million, or $0.19 per diluted share.

Epistar on 21st June announced its financial results, reporting a fully utilized capacity of blue LED as well as a sustained production of AlInGaP LED despite subtle growth in both the output of light sources and the orders for LED backlighting and little possibility to raise prices of its products. The company estimated a 15% QoQ rise that could possibly push up 2Q17’s revenue close to the number in 2Q16. Osram Records Good Start into Fiscal 2015

Osram recorded a strong operating performance in the first quarter of the current fiscal year that started in October 2014. With growth of 0.5 percent, revenue was slightly above the year-earlier period on a comparable basis, i.e. excluding portfolio and currency effects. In nominal terms, the company even recorded a revenue increase of five percent to almost €1.4 billion, resulting from the weakness of the euro against key currencies and the acquisition of Clay Paky. Osram’s 3Q14 Financial Results Show Positive Effects from LED Transformation

Osram has achieved its recently updated outlook for the fiscal year that ended in September 2014. Revenue rose one percent year over year on a comparable basis – meaning excluding portfolio and currency effects – and was more than €5.1 billion. The revenue share of LED-based products and solutions increased to 36 percent from 29 percent in fiscal 2013. In the fourth quarter, it reached already 39 percent. EBITA [1] excluding special items increased almost ten percent to EUR 449 million (US $) in fiscal 2014, translating into an EBITA margin of 8.7 percent, in particular due to positive effects from the OSRAM Push transformation program.
