Coretronic Corporation(5371)had posted consolidated sales revenue for 3Q of NT$25,903 million with an operating income of NT$1,360 million, up 1% and drop 10% from the previous quarter respectively. Net income totaled NT$1,133 million, dropped 12%. Net income attributable to equity holders of the parent company was NT$1,052 million with the basic EPS of NT$1.45 per common share.   

Joby has designed a hands-free and tactical LED flashlight Joby Gorillatorch Flare. Recently, CCFL lighting maker Wellypower Optronics’3Q10 revenues made a new record. The consolidated total revenues went up NT$2.27 billion, gross profit was NT$270 million with a 12% gross margin. Also, pure income reached NT$171 million (US$5.53 million), up 694% sequentially, EPS was NT$1.01, and operating incomer was NT$142 million.

Taiwan's No.1 LED chipmaker Epistar has intended to team up with China Electronics Corp. (CEC) to build a joint venture.The investment is achieved to US$70 million by Epistar, and it's considered to be Epistar's biggest investment case in the mainland in recent years.

Power supply maker FSP Technology September revenues went up NT$1.553 billion (US$50.525 million), making its 3Q revenues to NT$4.482 billion to set a new quarterly record. And the strong results would keep conservative about the current quarter since most orders have been received in short term. FSP had an extensive portfolio ranging from applications in desktops, notebooks, industrial PCs, servers, LCD TV and monitors, STBs, health care, communications and LED lighting.

Backlight unit (BLU) Radiant Opto Electronics September revenues has been up 23.93% from 2009 to NT$4.248 billion (US$136.86 million) for 2010, and the first three quarters in 2010 revenues totaled NT$12.607 billion, up 3% sequentially.

Affected from inventory adjustment in the LCD TV segment, most Taiwan LED companies’ September revenues, included Everlight, Bright, Harvatek, and Lextar, had been lower compared to in August.

But Edison had noted that Lustrous lawsuit had little impact on the company's finances and operations. In the August 31st of 2010, Lustrous Technology had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Edison, and Edison had hired an professional patent attorney for the lawsuit.

ED packager Harvatek recently entered the supply chain for TV backlighting, and inventory adjustments by TV vendors had less affected on it. The company expected its September revenues will reach NT$400 million (US$12.67 million) and 3Q revenues got over NT$1 billion benefit from Japan-based TV vendors’ orders. In Harvatek’s revenues, handset business accounted for about 40-45% and lighting business accounted for about 15%, over 20% for IT (notebook and monitor) products.

Based on the strong demand for chips, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) expects net profit to rise 40% in 2010, while due to an anticipated chip supply glut, the growth will likely slow in 2011, according to its chairman Morris Chang.

Philips has updated its medium term financial targets over the 2011-2015 period .It aims at an EBITA of between 10-13% of sales as well as an average sales grow of at least at 2% higher than global GDP in 2011-2015.

Genesis Photonics hoped its Q3 revenues of 2010 increase 40% straightly, and get about NT$1 billion (US$31 million) from LED billboards in China.

According to Royal Philips Electronics, its current CEO Gerard Kleisterlee, will step down in April 2011 and will be replaced by Frans van Houten, a former Chief Executive of Philips' semiconductor business NXP, and van Houten will continue to build on the Dutch company's current strategy, seeking to benefit from an aging population, growth in emerging markets and increased awareness of energy efficiency.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) August sales grow slowly. According to the report announced by TSMC, its consolidated net sales for August 2010 were approximately NT$37.39 billion (about $1.17 billion), an increase of 0.5 percent over July 2010 and an increase of 25.4 percent over August 2009.

Due to ongoing market share gains coupled with steady demand, Taiwan Lite-On Technology Corp. August consolidated revenue of NT$10.29 billion, up 23% Y-o-Y.

As fears of weakening demand for equipment such as LCD screens that use the LED bulbs, Cree closed down 8.1% to $50.18, Veeco fell 8.3% to $33.44 and Aixtron AG was 5.3% lower at $24.78. Cree and Veeco share prices are unchanged while Aixtron is down to $24.72 in recent late trading.

Taiwan LED maker Huga Optotech has signed a NT$ 2 bn. syndication loan agreement with Hua Nan Commercial Bank. Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Industrial Bank of Taiwan, Mega International Commercial Bank, Chang Hwa Bank, and The Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank, also financed the deal.

As Inventory adjustments by panel makers and lower inventory of CCFL panels and CCFL TVs, most Taiwan LED packagers, chipmakers August revenues become lower than last month. LED chip packaging Unity Opto Technology August revenues slip 4.6% but up 58% on year to NT$670 million (US$20.979 million). The total income in 2010 until August 31 reached NT$4.62 billion, which more NT$4 billion than the whole 2009.

Taiwan major LED packagers revealed financial reports in the first half of 2010. Among the peers, Everlight ranked the first with after-tax net earnings of NT$3.7 per share. It scored NT$1.4 billion (US$43 million at US$1:NT$32) in after-tax profit over the first half of 2010, more than double the amount it made a year earlier.

Taiwan’s Lite-On Group hopes that its overall revenues can roughly grow 20-25% to reach NT$350-400 billion (US$10.93-12.5 billion) in 2013. According to the company, car components, LED and clean energy will garner NT$22 billion, NT$50 billion and NT$5 billion in revenues in 2013.

Taiwan LED chipmaker Formosa Epitaxy has announced the income of 1H10. A gross margin is above 43.58% which is the highest among Taiwan LED chipmakers. The net profit reached NT$630 million (US$19.2 million) and revenues come to NT$2.096 billion, while EPS reached NT$1.85. In the 2Q of 2010, the strength of capacity expansion and being improved result in the strong result, while the company hope keep above the 40% level due to pay attention to LED lighting in the 3Q of 2010.

Taiwan’s LED packaging company Unity Opto Technology reported the final finance result of the first half of 2010, which includes consolidated net profit of NT$661.728 million (US$20.65 million) with an EPS of NT$2.15. Consolidated revenues of Unity Opto is NT$3.906 billion and unconsolidated revenues is NT$3.25 billion.

Veeco Instruments Inc. announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to $200 million of the Company's common stock over the next year.

Nexxus Lighting, Inc. has released its sales revenue of second quarter 2010. The company revenue increases by 43% to $3.7 million compared to the prior year quarter. Gross profit increased to $873,000 on higher sales volume, compared to $650,000 in Q2 2009. Nexxus pointed out that the sales of LED products accounted for 84% Nexxus’ revenue in Q2 2010, versus 74% last year.

SemiLEDs Corporation, which specializes in blue, UV, and green LED chips, has filed for an Initial Public Offering. The firm registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to raise up to $173 million in shares. The firm has a history of 5 years and has booked $29 million in sales for the 12 months ended May 31.And it intends to list on the NASDAQ under the symbol LEDS.
