Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City Switches to LED Lighting

Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City now features energy-efficient LED lighting, ensuring that the hotel’s lighting energy consumption is reduced up to 81 percent. Hotel has launched sustained efforts for better environment with the Reduce Carbon Footprints Drive, for next year.

“Lighting accounts for about 30 to 40 percent of our electric consumption. The decision to switch to energy efficient green light alone will reduce the equivalent of 15,300 kg CO2 emissions per annum”, said Pasquale Baiguera, the hotel's General Manager.

The newly installed 72 LED flashlights need just 1660 Watts of power instead of the usual 8800 Watts with the conventional lights. The replacement of the 52 building spot lights is just one example of where LED lights can reduce energy consumption by over 80 percent.

“The entire guest area corridors are using energy saving lighting now and the team has done similar exercise for all back of the house areas such as kitchen, staff working areas. The reduced carbon footprints will not only cut water and electricity costs but also makes our property more environmentally friendly. The drive is a part of our annual Responsible Business campaign for the month of September.” Baiguera said.

Radisson Blu Hotel, DMC worked closely with Greenlight-energy, a Dubai based specialists in renewable energy and energy efficient products and solutions. The company provides sustainable building solutions to companies, governments and individuals throughout the Middle East.
