In October, Epistar , Lextar, Everlight and and Wellypower revenues decreased, and Genesis, Unity Opto revenues increased on month

Recently, Taiwan-based LED companies reported their October revenues. LED chipmakers Epistar , Lextar Electronics , LED packaging houses Everlight Electronics and Wellypower Optronics saw October 2010 revenues decreased sequentially by 7%, 37.51%, 10.63% and 3.59% respectively, while chipmaker Genesis Photonics and LED-packaging house Unity Opto Technology saw their October revenues increase 5.41% and 5%, respectively, on month.

Epistar's October revenues decreased by 7% sequentially but increased 34% on year to NT$1.71 billion (US$56.64 million). Accumulated revenues from January to October totaled NT$16.66 billion, up 64.5% on year. The reason why the October revenues dropped was weaker than expected demand for notebook and TV backlighting, as well as the traditional weak season for small- to medium-size products.

Everlight revenues in October decreased 10.63% sequentially but increased 10% on year to NT$1.25 billion.  Revenues for January-October totaled NT$14.06 billion. The company also thought the traditional weak season and dropping demand for TV backlighting was the reason for drop result.

Lextar's October decreased 37.51% sequentially but an increase of 97.02% on year to revenues NT$502 million, Revenues for January to October totaled NT$6.83 billion, up 372.86% on year.

Unity Opto October revenues increased 5% sequentially to NT$550 million, Revenues for the first ten months were NT$5.7 billion, up 77% on year. The up result was benefit from orders and shipments for LED-backlit TVs started to return.

Genesis's October revenues up 5.41% sequentially and 250% on year to NT$331 million,. Accumulated revenues for the first ten month were NT$2.32 billion, up 177.38% on year. The company noted the reason for revenues growth was new capacity and orders from the TV backlighting supply chain.

Wellypower Optronics consolidated revenues for October decreased 3.59% sequential but increase 8.3% on year to NT$764 million (US$25.3 million). Among the total revenues, LED products accounted for 52.88% to NT$404 million, with down 2% from September, and CCFL light bars accounted for 43.45% to NT$332 million, with up 1.5% sequentially. Other lighting products were NT$28.09 million, with a 3.67% revenue share.
