Unity Opto Gets Ready for 2012 LED Industry

According to Taiwanese Unity Opto Technology’s chairman Alpha Wu, the company targets to boost 2012 revenue to exceed the NT$10 billion (US$333 million at US$1:NT$30) benchmark, based on the better-than-projected revenue achieved in 2011.

In the past year, the company has harvested NT$6.5 billion (US$216.6 million) revenue, better than the NT$5 billion (US$166 million) projected. In addition, the company had recently won an NT$800 million (US$26 million) contract to supply an American retailer LED lights this year. As a result, Wu is confident of the company’s 2012 goal, based on the company’s new products for lighting and backlight applications that will help drive operational growth.

Lighting products are predicted to bring the company NT$3 billion (US$100 million) in revenue this year. Its TV-backlight operation will increase marketing campaigns in China and South Korea, as well as being the contract supplier to the world’s top five TV brands.

According to Wu ,the darkest days for LED industry has past, and the LED-lighting market will begin to take off this year worldwide and his company is ready with a complete range of lighting products.
