MHA Lighting scoops Innovative Lighting Product of the Year in prestigious industry awards

MHA Lighting has scooped a top accolade for its pioneering lighting product which is helping NHS Trusts fight hospital acquired infection rates and achieve significant energy savings.

The Atherton-based lighting company fought off tough competition from nine other finalists to win the Innovative Lighting Product of the Year category of the prestigious Electrical Industry Awards 2012, for its TiLite luminaire.

This is the first year MHA has entered these awards.

MHA Lighting impressed the judges with its unique sealed unit design which stops dust, bacteria and dead insects from gathering around warm light fittings and spreading deadly superbugs.

The esteemed panel of independent judges also commended the LED’s 60,000 hour life span (seven years at 24 hours a day, seven days a week) which eradicates the needs for routine maintenance and bulb replacement, which again stops harmful bacteria from being distributed into the atmosphere.

MHA Lighting’s Managing Director Tom Harrison, said: “We’re truly delighted that our TiLite luminaire has been recognised in these highly-respected awards.

“Winning the Innovative Lighting Product of the Year category truly reflects what MHA Lighting is all about - a forward thinking, British firm which takes pride in creating innovative lighting solutions and products that enable organisations spanning all sectors, to achieve significant energy and efficiency savings.”

MHA Lighting developed the TiLite luminaire for projects within the NHS to help trusts future proof their existing buildings against infection controls, whilst providing them with an energy efficient solution.
The TiLite fitting has been previously met with strong support from shadow health minister Andy Burnham, and was highly commended by industry peers during last night’s ceremony.
Now in their platinum year, The Electrical Industry Awards, run by Purple Media Ltd, recognise those companies that are leading the way in the electrical industry, by highlighting success, talent and innovation.

Tom added: “The quality and innovation of the other entries was outstanding.

“Our success is down to my highly skilled and talented team, who work tirelessly to research, design and install our innovative LED lighting solutions. I am extremely pleased that their efforts have been publically recognised by the calibre of professionals involved in the awards.”

MHA’s latest award win continues a successful 2012 for the company, as MHA recently won a Retrofit Award 2012 for its TiLite luminaire, were named finalists Retro Expo Awards 2012 which take place later this month, and have their longstanding customer, Manchester Airport Group, shortlisted for Client of the Year in the Lux Awards 2012. MHA will find out if they’re successful on November 6 2012.
