Lextar November Revenue Up from Last Month

Taiwanese LED manufacturer Lextar’s November revenue reached NT $1.17 (US $39 million), growth of 10.1 percent from October and 49.5 percent from November last year. The company’s accumulated revenue from Jan.-Nov. was NT $12.64 billion.

Although 4Q is typically a slack season in the LED industry, with notebook application orders rebounding and Korean consumer demands increasing for cell phone flash and TV application products, backlight applications showed growth in November. In regards to direct- type LED TV backlight applications, slenderized 15mm OD direct- type LED TVs are currently undergoing client verification phase and predicted to enter mass production by the end of this year. Lextar’s strategy for direct- type LED TV backlight application is to make 15mm OD technology the main player next year, making up 50 percent of the company’s total direct-view type LED TVs in 2014.

Lextar shipments of tube lighting and panel lighting in Japan, Taiwan and Asia-Pacific went unhindered in November. The three main lighting application products for the company next year will be tube lighting, light bulbs, and panel lighting. For lighting components, Lextar will focus on developing COB package and products with high Color Render Index (CRI). The company hopes for COB package will triple in 2014 from last year.
