Cree Names New President of Lighting

Cree appoints Daniel Castillo as President, Lighting, effective Nov. 7, 2016. In this role, Castillo will report to Chuck Swoboda and will lead both the commercial and consumer lighting businesses. Castillo joins Cree from Eaton Corporation, where he was most recently Senior Vice President, Oil, Gas and IEC Assemblies. Prior to his work at Eaton, Castillo held leadership roles in lighting and other electrical product areas at both Cooper Industries and General Electric.

 “We have made tremendous progress over the past several years building a successful LED lighting business,” said Chuck Swoboda, Cree chairman and CEO. “The addition of Danny Castillo to the leadership team brings valuable industry expertise and proven business leadership to Cree as we scale the business to the next level.”

Castillo brings to Cree 25 years of experience with multinational industrial companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.
