India’s LED Bulb Incentive to Be Implemented Nationwide by 2019

News Source:

India’s national LED program Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA), will be implemented nationwide by 2019, said the country’s Minister for Power and Coal, Piyush Goyal recently.

The UJALA scheme rolled out a year ago on May 1, 2015 has resulted in sales of total 90 million LED bulbs nationwide, which roughly has slashed roughly INR 55 billion (US $830 million) in energy bills.

When the country completes replacing 770 million incandescent bulbs in 2019, it would help citizens save INR 400 billion in energy bills, while meeting the country’s energy security demands, the minister added.
