Korean Media Doubts Samsung's Plan of Launching Micro LED TV This Year

Samsung plans to debut its Micro LED TV, The Wall, in the second half of 2020. However, TheElec, a Korea electronics industry media, reported that Samsung might not be able to follow its schedule as it has yet begun production necessary component by now.

Samsung revealed its Micro LED TV lineup at CES 2020, among which, the 75-inch, 88-inch, 93-inch and 110-inch TVs were anticipated to launch in the market of Europe, North America and the Middle East in 2020.

TheElec quoted information from its sources that, at the moment in July, Samsung has not even started to manufacture the components required for the TV products. Subcontractors who are not directly involved in Micro LED TVs production have also not received a time schedule. Moreover, it was noted that Samsung is still suffering from low production yield for the products even after the repairing process.

Nevertheless, Samsung still claims that it is on track to release its Micro LED TVs as schedule. Samsung’s LED chips suppliers include China’s Sanan Optoeletronics and Taiwan’s PlayNitride. Earlier this year, PlayNitride shared with LEDinside that its clients have not changed their production plan.

More Micro LED and Mini LED industry updates and technology progresses will be reveal at the webinar of 2020 Micro LED Forum: Opportunities and Challenges for Mass Production of Emerging Display Technologies. Keep up with the latest development and market dynamics and register now!
