Intematix’s Remote Phosphor LED System Lumen Maintenance Reaches New Milestone

Intematix Corporation announced that a sample set of lighting modules using its remote phosphors have reached 6,000 hours of life testing with 100% of initial lumens maintained as measured by TÜV SÜD, an independent testing laboratory.  Testing time of 6,000 hours is the minimum typically required to qualify for ENERGY STAR and DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) standards for LED lighting.

Remote phosphor is a lighting system architecture where a separate phosphor component is powered by blue LEDs. Light fixtures and lamps use this architecture and the increased light extraction it brings to reduce LED component count and costs.  Lighting uniformity and consistency are also improved and supply chains are simplified.

“ENERGY STAR and DLC standards require lumen maintenance of up to 94.1% at 6,000 hours of life for LED lighting systems,” explained Julian Carey, Senior Director of Strategic Marketing at Intematix. “Our remote phosphor test results showing 100% lumen maintenance at 6,000 hours is exceptional and shows remote phosphor to be a very solid design foundation for long life reliability.”

Intematix actively supports the development of new LED lighting test standards as a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). The Company is also testing its newest remote phosphor products in LED lighting modules to certified IES LM-80 standards and plans to present further testing results at the IES Annual Conference October 26-29, 2013.
