Spectacular dynamic outdoor lighting with OSRAM LED shows the Uruguay bridge in Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina, in a completely new light.

To turn the rather inconspicuous bridge into a city highlight, renowned Maestre Iluminación S.A. was assigned to add new “color” to it and implemented a spectacular dynamic lighting concept – using state-of-the-art LED floodlights and innovative electronic equipment from OSRAM.

OSRAM LED floodlights feature high light beam and very low consumption – less than 60 W with the 3 colors including red, green, and blue on at their maximum power.

The system can generate 16 million colors, creating both dynamic and static scenes and effects by means of a controller based on the DMX protocol, frequently used in architectural lighting or shows. As they feature open angle lenses – ideal to create a smooth “bathing” effect –, lamps were set further apart, which resulted in reduced installation costs, power and required fittings.

OSRAM HIGH POWER FLOOD RGB have a tempered glass closure and an IP68 protection which, together with their aluminum cover, make them ideal for outdoors applications, even suitable for underwater operation – up to 1.2 m deep.

Using the lighting system based on OSRAM LEDs and OPTOTRONIC electronic equipment, the service life is estimated in 50,000 hours. With this 4-hour daily operation schedule, its useful life with zero maintenance is estimated in 30 years!

The control system helped conceive audio-rhythmical scenes where lighting was synchronized with music to create life and movement all over the architecture. Four 5-minute sound & light shows will be held every day at 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m., and 1:00 a.m. Then, the bridge lights will change their color, creating different scenes that will change over time.
