Brompton Technology has announced the successful deployment of its Tessera LED processing platform at Studio V, the newly opened virtual production stage inside StudioCube Daejeon, South Korea’s largest public broadcasting content production studio.
StudioCube was established in 2017 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) to support the competitiveness and development of South Korea’s broadcasting and video content industry. It has been used as a filming location for numerous hit productions that have received global acclaim, such as Squid Game, Kingdom, and Sweet Home.

Studio V further expands StudioCube’s virtual production capabilities, enabling creators to achieve photorealistic environments while maintaining the flexibility and cost-effectiveness that modern productions demand. The new stage was officially introduced during a Grand Opening ceremony on December 3, hosted by KOCCA and attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Deputy Mayor of Daejeon, signalling strong national support for next-generation production technologies.
The newly built Virtual Production (VP) studio at StudioCube uses high-resolution LG LED products optimised for Virtual Production environments with a pixel pitch of 2.6mm to 3.9mm. This massive volume consists of a main screen 60m wide by 8m high (including a 36.5m curved section and a 23.5m flat section), two movable screens each measuring 5m by 5m, and a large ceiling LED measuring 15m by 21m.
At the core of the system are 19 Brompton Tessera SX40 4K LED processors and 38 Tessera XD 10G data distribution units. This powerful system precisely controls an enormous LED space, totalling an unprecedented 94.7 million pixels in various screen configurations, ensuring perfect image quality across the entire system through Brompton’s advanced processing technology.

The Brompton processors at Studio V leverage various Tessera features essential for high-end virtual production. ShutterSync® precisely synchronises LED refresh rates with camera shutters to eliminate scan lines and ensure tear-free footage across all camera angles and frame rates, while Extended Bit Depth™ maintains colour fidelity and smooth gradations even in challenging HDR workflows. Dark Magic™ preserves critical shadow detail in low-light scenes, essential for dramatic cinematography and realistic environmental lighting, and PureTone™ delivers accurate colour reproduction across the full grayscale range, ensuring consistent colour grading from virtual to practical elements. In addition, integration with OptiTrack and Stage Precision camera tracking systems enables real-time synchronisation between the virtual environment and actual camera movements.
“Studio V represents a major step forward in Korea’s mission to advance global content creation,” says acting president of KOCCA, HyunSuk Yoo. “By integrating Brompton’s industry-leading LED processing with our expanded production infrastructure, we are enabling creators to work at the highest international standard. This facility will play an essential role in elevating the scale and impact of K-content worldwide.”
“Working with KOCCA and the systems integration team on Studio V at StudioCube has been an exceptional experience,” says Sebastian Kanabar, Head of Sales (APAC) at Brompton Technology. “This installation demonstrates how our Tessera platform can scale to meet the most demanding virtual production requirements while maintaining the image quality and reliability that cinematographers expect. We’re proud to support KOCCA’s vision of establishing Korea as the global leader in next-generation content production, and we look forward to seeing the remarkable productions that will emerge from this world-class facility.”
