Sundance Square of Fort Worth to Get LED Makeover

Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth is to get an LED makeover, and currently it is under the process of test.

According to Sundance's marketing director, there are more than 7,600 feet of LED cable to outline about 18 buildings, primarily along Main Street. It has taken workers about 5,000 hours to install the lights and 100 hours to program them. If testing goes well, the lights will be switched on after the Parade of Lights on Friday.

The system is computer-operated and has 16 million color options with unlimited program combinations, such as lighting sequences that appear to jump the streets from block to block.

The Carnegie and Chase Bank buildings will be added to the system in December, and the block with the Palace Theater and Barnes & Noble bookstore will be added in 2012.

But the City Center towers will not be replaced with LEDs, and remain outlined in white bulbs.
