Lextar Revenue Grows Steadily from Strong Lighting Demands

Taiwanese LED lighting manufacturer Lextar revenue will grow steadily in second half of 2014, as the company benefits from international manufacturers rising lighting OEM orders and new LED TV backlight clients that is alleviating the risks of relying on orders from a single client, according to a Money DJ report.

The report based on info from research reports by a Taiwanese financial institute that declined to be named noted Lextar’s main products included LED TV backlight and LED lighting, which account for 70 percent and 30 percent respectively. In LED TV backlight sector edge-type LED TV and direct-type LED TV made up half of the revenues, while Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC) only about 10 percent. In the future direct-type LED TV penetration rate will increase leading to raised revenue share. The company’s main clients include AU Optronics (AUO) that account for more than 50 percent of the company’s revenue. However, with new clients entering in 2014, the revenue share will be lowered to 45 percent and spread out the company’s risks of relying on a single client.

Most of Lextar’s OEM orders are from Osram, Philips and Panasonic’s LED components and products. LED components have better gross margin, which is benefiting the company in increasing gross profits this year since more clients have placed LED component orders.
