“It all started with a game of words,” wrote Zaciu. “The German word for light bulb is ‘gluehbirne’, what literally means ‘glowing pear’.”

One of his first lights was actually a glowing pear.

Cabbage light.

The photographer makes these interesting compositions by hollowing the fruit or vegetable out and sticking light bulbs inside.

Light emitted from the vegetables are quite weak, so Zaciu tends to shoot the images in complete darkness and over long exposure periods.
