China Electric and Philips Lighting Launch Joint Lighting Center in Taiwan

China Electric and Philips Lighting launched a joint International Lighting Design Center in Taipei on Monday, stated Taiwanese LED luminaire manufacturer China Electric.

China Electric's future developments will follow global trends of integrating Internet of Things (IOT) with lighting, and green energy to slash energy consumption, said Fang-Yu Wong, the newly appointed general manager of the company.

Board members approved Wong’s appointment as the new GM of China Electric on Aug. 13, 2016.

Under Wong’s leadership, China Electric, which owns Taiwanese lighting brand TOA Lighting, intends to prioritize developing smart lighting, which it is implementing through a partnership with Philips Lighting’s Taiwan branch.

The center spans 1,938 square meters, and includes a large visual and audio area, display center, guest lounge, offices, and meeting rooms.

Functions of the lighting center will include for launching new products, training staff, product exhibitions, forums and other business activities.

China Electric aims to use the new lighting center to encourage architects and designers to mingle, exchange ideas, and integrate digital lighting into smart living.

Recently, the company’s green energy business was chosen for a pilot project in Xinglong Public Housing Buildings in Taipei to demonstrate smart energy management and microgrids. The pilot green energy project emergency power system used China Electric’s power saving systems.
