Canada Phases Out 75-100 Watt Incandescent Light Bulbs

Following U.S. phase out announcement of incandescent bulbs, northern neighbor Canada  phase out of 75-100 watt incandescent bulbs will be effective as of Jan.1 , 2013, according to several Canadian media reports. 

Lower wattage bulbs of 40-60 watts will be phased out will be effective in Dec. 31, 2014. The new regulations will have no impact on bulbs used in three-way lighting fixtures, chandeliers, appliance lamps, and others, according to a TC Media report.

Other media including Global News noted the regulation was passed in 2007, but only brought into effect in Jan. 1, 2014. The report analyzed as U.S. and Canada share the same regulations for lighting products, it could give Canadian businesses a more competitive edge.
