The State Key Laboratory of Solid State Lighting (SKLSSL) under China’s Ministry of Science and Technology has recently set up a meeting to discuss publication of LED standards in Beijing, China. The organization has mainly been responsible for drafting semiconductor lighting specs.

To ensure the new standard quality, the SKLSSL has been focused on related coordination and has welcomed input from semiconductor lighting industry, major science labs, and inspection organizations. The three main national standards discussed include “LED lighting application requirements for separate control device models, and LED streetlights with thermal dissipation modules,” “LED lighting products accelerated luminous depreciation testing methods (2,000 hours)”, and “application communication protocols for the interface in smart public LED lighting systems.”

The standard system is crucial in supporting the LED industry’s healthy development and has significant meaning, said Li Pumin, Director of SKLSSL. The aim of collaborating with different organizations and agencies is to come up with innovative and mandatory national standards.

The organization first mentioned plans of drafting three LED standards in July 21, 2014.
