Abu Dhabi to Upgrade Traffic Signals with LEDs

News Source:

Traffic signals in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be replaced with LED technology, said the city’s Department of Transport (DoT) recently.

The new traffic signal lights will have a lifetime of at least five years, which will help the city cut back on maintenance costs, reported local media The National.

“The new system contributes to the prevention of traffic light offences,” said Hamad Al Afeefi, acting director of traffic management and technology at DoT. “It also saves energy and reduces the cost of traffic signals’ maintenance considerably.”
