International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA introduces the distinctive ‘The Rising Sun’ rear lamp for Geely’s flagship AI-powered six-seat SUV, the Galaxy M9. This marks the first time FORVIA HELLA has incorporated a nearly 1.5-meter-long light curtain into a rear lamp, seamlessly integrating advanced lighting technology with China design aesthetics. The rear lamp, crafted by FORVIA HELLA’s local team in China, endows the new model with a unique visual signature. The Geely Galaxy M9 has been officially launched on 17 September.
"FORVIA HELLA have maintained a close and productive partnership with Geely for many years, continuously advancing innovation, quality, and technology, and jointly driving the high-quality development of China’s automotive industry. We are pleased to contribute to the development of the flagship Galaxy M9 and to design the bespoke ‘The Rising Sun’ rear lamp”, says Didier Keskas, Executive Vice President of Business Group Lighting in Asia Pacific region and member of Lighting Executive Board at FORVIA HELLA. “Looking ahead, we will continue to empower Geely’s new models, supporting the brand in achieving greater value and market competitiveness."
The rear lamp features a continuous, integrated lighting effect, achieved through the use of a nearly 1.5-meter-long light curtain. This light curtain employs a high-density pixel matrix design and a laser-engraved “starry sky” technique in manufacturing process, with each luminous surface precisely sculpted to approximately 0.01 microns. Nearly a thousand luminous points are illuminated, creating a layered, star-studded effect reminiscent of a three-dimensional galaxy.
The rear lamp in continuous integrated design incorporates up to 436 LEDs, delivering exceptional homogeneousness when stationary and highlighting the vehicle’s premium quality. In dynamic driving mode, the rear lamp offers impressive, animated lighting effects, such as flowing welcome and farewell sequences, further enhancing the vehicle’s technological and stylish appeal.
In terms of detail, the rear lamp draws inspiration from China aesthetics and harmonizes with the high-mounted brake light, evoking the imagery of a “rising sun.” This design makes the Geely Galaxy M9 even more visually striking and attention-grabbing. Additionally, the rear lamp is equipped with an auxiliary driving indicator in blue color, contributing to driving safety.
