[News] CoAsia Semi will manufacture ISELED products from Inova Semiconductors

News Source:

CoAsia Semi (CEO Dong-Soo Shin) and Germany’s Inova Semiconductors GmbH have signed a wafer manufacturing license agreement for ISELED 1.0, a key component for premium automotive interior lighting.

Through this agreement, Inova secures a new Samsung Foundry base to expand its global ISELED supply network, while CoAsia Semi gains the ability to independently develop and produce ISELED based automotive LEDs.

By combining CoAsia Semi’s chip technology with ITSWELL’s LED packaging and module manufacturing, the CoAsia Group has established a vertically integrated ISELED value chain — from wafer to finished module. The partnership is expected to enhance supply efficiency for automakers such as Hyundai and Kia and strengthen Korea’s automotive semiconductor ecosystem.

Both companies expect this agreement to help shorten delivery times and improve procurement efficiency for Korean automakers such as Hyundai and Kia.

“Sharing the ISELED technology with other industry partners is key to be a standard in the industry” said Robert ISELE, CEO from Inova. He added: “This is a further step to strengthen our resilient supply network for the ISELED technology, as required by our global customers.”

DS Shin (Dong-Soo Shin), CEO of CoAsia SEMI and Head of the Semiconductor Division at CoAsia Group commented, “This license agreement demonstrates the synergy within CoAsia Group by integrating CoAsia Semi’s chip design capabilities with ITSWELL’s LED packaging and assembly, achieving vertical integration in the ISELED value chain. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the domestic automotive semiconductor industry and further expand our portfolio in this field.”

The collaboration aims to strengthen the Korean automotive semiconductor ecosystem and support supply chain stability for automakers such as Hyundai and Kia.

CoAsia Semi also plans to expand the applications of ISELED technology beyond vehicle interior lighting to areas such as smart lighting, micro-LED, and integrated display systems.
