Unable to pay back creditors, a bankrupt decorative luminaire manufacturer from Henglan Town in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, China chose to end his life by jumping off a building. Videos of the manufacturer leaping to his death have been widely circulated on the Internet. Rumors surfaced that the company declared insolvency after receiving a bad check for several hundred thousand Chinese Yuan. The information has not been confirmed, though.

During the first half of 2014, China’s LED industry kept up high growth rates, a trend extended from 2013. Industry insiders have reached a consensus that LED lighting demands will propel this trend well into 2016. Related industries have started production expansion, talent headhunt, and distribution channels establishment. These companies have stuck it out during the LED industry’s initial restructure phase, and do not want to miss out on the exponentially growing LED lighting market.

At the end of 2013, a new list of bankrupt Chinese LED lighting manufacturers was published. Industry sources estimate more than 10,000 people have been impacted by the bankruptcy wave. Frustrated workers and angry investors have hunt down these indebted bosses on their own, provide legal evidence on outstanding accounts receivable and form groups to ask related organizations for help. These people will be unable to enjoy their reunion dinner during the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year this month.
