Osram has continued its company profile sharpening and appointed Dieter May, who has served as Senior Vice President of the Digital Services and Business Models unit for the BMW Group, as the new CEO of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors business unit. Osram and GaN Systems Partner to Develop LiDAR Laser Driver

Osram Opto Semiconductors announced its partnership with GaN Systems in the development of laser driver for LiDAR applications. Osram has continuously expanded its laser portfolio for LiDAR. Through the collaboration with GaN Systems, the company aims to solve the issues of LiDAR including its inability to transmit lasers at short pulses while maintaining high peak power. Driver Monitoring System Embeds Osram’s IR LED for Semi-Autonomous Driving

Osram Opto Semiconductors has provided its IR LED and LED components to Joyson Safety Systems, a U.S. based mobile safety system provider, on its steering wheel to develop a semi-autonomous system to the new Cadillac CT6. Osram Opto Launches Far Red LEDs for Horticultural Lighting

Osram Opto Semiconductors is expanding its LED product range for horticultural lighting with a new type of the well-proven Oslon SSL. In addition to the existing hyper red (660 nm) and deep blue (450 nm) versions, the high-tech company developed a far red Oslon SSL LED with a wavelength of 730 nm. For certain plants such as tomatoes, pepper or roses, it is exactly this wavelength which leads to better growth. Customers now have a better coverage of the color spectrum for their horticulture applications. The new far red Oslon SSL will be available from January 2015.
