Nexxus Lighting Inc. has announced to sign a distributor agreement with PolyBrite International, a Goeken Group Corp. subsidiary, which develops LED lighting systems using a proprietary technology. The City of Chicago has installed new Borealis LED streetlights as part of a test pilot program. The City of Chicago will monitor the LED streetlights, weighed against their current lighting solution for streets and alleyways. The goal is for a safer, cleaner and brighter light that will improve nighttime safety and the overall appearance of the city.

Seven 120 watt Borealis LED streetlights with a like number of 350 watt HPS (High Pressure Sodium) streetlights were monitored from June 2009 through January 2010.

PolyBrite International announced today that the installation of Borealis LED streetlights has saved the City of Naperville up to 60% in energy usage for each of the four months of usage. The City of Naperville has been monitoring Borealis LED streetlights since June and they will continue to do so until January 2010. 

It’reported that PolyBrite International’s Borealis modular LED lighting system is being used for the channel letter entrance signs in the new Beijing National Stadium.
