Two U.S. DOE SBIR Grants awarded to SSL Technology

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science and Basic Energy Sciences has awarded two Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II Release 1 grants related to solid-state lighting. Phase II SBIR grants are awarded to successful Phase I Release 1 recipients. The FY16 Phase II Release 1 awards—each worth about US $1 million and 24 months in duration—will explore the technical merit or feasibility of an innovative concept or technology.

QD Vision Awarded U.S. Army SBIR Phase II Grant Totaling $775,000

QD Vision, developer of nanotechnology-based products for lighting and displays, yesterday announced it has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract by the U.S. Army as part of its Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD). Combined with new, additional funds for a Phase I option period, the award totals $775,000.

Energy Focus, Inc. selected by DARPA SBIR to Develop 'Explosion-Proof' Lighting

It’s reported that Energy Focus, Inc. has been selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program to develop Explosion Proof LED fixtures. Under the project, titled "Explosion-Proof Solid State Lighting Fixture for Extreme Environments.", Energy Focus will further develop solid state lighting fixtures.
