A project group from Heriot-Watt University Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences (IPaQS) and the University of Edinburgh has studied the use of deep-UV ultrashort pulse lasers for surgical tissue ablation.
Such sources are already employed in ophthalmology, for example during LASIK surgery where an excimer laser removes corneal tissue with sub-micron precision.
But even though deep-UV sources can offer the highest axial precision and reduced collateral damage during ablation, their application for ablating soft tissues apart from the cornea remains unde...

Violumas is excited to announce the addition of UVA and UVB wavelengths to its VioBeam-1X1 series portfolio. Featuring 10° fused silica optics combined with a high-power UV LED, the product series now includes 405nm, 395nm, 385nm, 375nm, 365nm, 340nm, and 325nm wavelengths. These new LEDs are offered alongside the previously released 255nm, 265nm, 275nm, 295nm, and 310nm wavelengths.
The VioBeam-1X1 delivers a precise, ultra-narrow beam, making it an ideal solution for collimation, focused illumination, fiber coupling, and far-field illumination. Comp...

Violumas, provider of high-power UV LED solutions and inventor of 3-PAD LED technology, is proud to launch the release of new 275nm and 265nm LEDs in mid-power, high-power, and high-density packages. The radiant flux of the new 275nm and 265nm LEDs increased by 35-50% from the previous generation, to achieve 130mW (275nm) and 110mW (265nm) in compact, single-LED packages of 5.2mm x 5.2mm. The improved radiant flux of the UVC LEDs is achieved by the incorporation of a transparent p-Contact layer and high reflectivity metallization in the epiwafer. The...
